YPFIS is pleased to announce the Dean's Tea on November 22 will feature Karen Boersma, Publisher of Kids Can Press. Karen will give an informal talk and answer questions about the relationship between publishing and libraries, the Canadian publishing industry, developing and marketing titles for children and young adults, arranging author/illustrator visits and more. Please join us for what should be a fun and lively discussion!

Karen Boersma became Publisher at Kids Can Press this September, overseeing the editorial and design departments and working with the publishing team to develop both the long- and short-term publishing goals of the company. She also oversees the international rights department. Prior to her current position, Karen was the rights director for Kids Can, rights and export manager for Groundwood Books, associate editor at the University of Toronto Press and publicist for Doubleday Canada. Karen is also the Chair of the Children's Publishing Committee of the Association of Canadian Publishers (ACP).
